As you are watching some of these reality shows geared around designer wedding gowns have you ever wondered what makes this very simple dress cost nearly $10,000 and the same style of dress somewhere else cost under $1000. Well as a designer for Darius Cordell couture I can attest to the fact that there are a number of factors as to why this happens.

One of the first points to consider is where was the garment made. Most designer bridal gowns are made overseas in places like China and India. However there are still a few designers that opt to have their bridal gowns produced here in the United States of America. But what you will find is that the wedding dresses made here in the US are many times more than twice the cost to have them made over seas. You will be hard pressed to find someone here in America who is willing to produce the same quality garment for the same wages as someone in one of those other countries.

Another point to consider is the fabrication that is used on the garment. For example most silk fabrics that are used on designer bridal gowns are nearly double the cost for most man made fabrics. A lot of designers do not like to use the word polyester because it has a negative connotation to it. But the truth of the matter is if your bridal gown cost less than $1000 then it is most likely made in a polyester (also know as man made) fabrication. At Darius Cordell we always price our designer wedding dresses at a poly price since most clients are on a budget. But we also give our consumers the option to upgrade per say to a higher quality fabric if they so choose.

One last point to take into consideration is rather or not the item has any embellishment on it or not. For instance is there beading on the garment. And if so are they glass beads or are they plastic. Are they the high quality sew on crystals or are they glue on crystals. Here at Darius Cordell Fashion Ltd we have always used glass beading instead of plastic jewels. It is hard for most people who are not in the industry to know the difference with the naked eye. However the cost between those are quite different.

So as you can see there are a number of ways to drive up the cost of a wedding dress. It is not necessarily about what is better. It is more so about what does your budget allow and what are you willing to spend. It is totally possible to have a dress that looks like thousands of dollars but in fact it cost ten times less.

Woudn't this be perfect for a beach or outdoor wedding. Custom Wedding Dresses like this can be near $5000. But from us when you buy direct and via mail order the fees for face to face assistance are not added in so the prices is way less closer to $1000.

It has been made in ivory, white and in this champagne color. All versions of bridal dresses like these from our couture collection translate well for an outdoor wedding ceremony.

The 3d flowers are detachable and cam be moved easily. You can request more or less flowers on your dress.

We also did a long sleeve design in satin where the flowers where solid at the upper bust and then faded down to around the lower waist. It was lovely.

It has been made with stretch net sleeves in the past in a black and turned out fabulous. We began marketing our Darius Cordell designs in 1996 and thanks to the internet our website was born in early 1999. Since then we have had great success using the internet as our catalog. We sell hundreds of custom wedding dresses, mother of the bride and ball gowns per year (via mail order & by appointment) to clients from all over the globe - many of them being repeat clients.

I am very proud of the quality of our product and our exceptional record. But we are human and this is a man made product so mistakes can happen. Out of 10 years of business I can count on one hand those extremely few mistakes. Regardless, the Darius Cordell Couture policy is if we make a mistake...we will fix it. Depending on the circumstances even if our clients make a mistake we will even accept the return (with a restocking fee) and remake it for them. So we can be extremely flexible in many situations.

Sometimes clients will wait to the last minute to place their order and then expect the unreasonable even though we disclose on our site that normal production time can take approximately 12 weeks. It is understood that all Darius Cordell Couture garments are hand made to order designer dresses that can take approximately 12 weeks to produce. But an exact completion and/or delivery time can not and is not given. We make sure to have all clients print, read, fill out and sign our order form contract prior to us starting production on an order request for evening gowns. All of this is disclosed up front to them on our site and on that contract that they sign yet some clients feel as though they are not being treated properly (or have been ripped off) when we remind them of this disclosure and or when their item arrives in the normal time that was disclosed. This is unfortunate but we have concluded it is part of doing business via an online catalog so we just try to make sure clients understand fully prior to starting their order. Most of the time it works but sometimes...not so much.

The only other issues we have ever had that we could not fix are from a few potential clients who may have mistakenly overlooked some important words on our site which resulted in them not having the important info they needed. And unfortunately once made aware of their innocent oversight they become frustrated (feeling as though they did something wrong) and then they sometimes may have misdirected that personal frustration.

Nevertheless, it is my hope that our true Darius Cordell clients will see that potential consumers becoming frustrated due to their very simple and innocent oversights or with us trying to help them through this process by asking them to carefully review the information we provide to them (and them feeling as though they have done something wrong when they don't see something at first glance) does not constitute bad service, a rip off or a legitimate complaint regarding how we assist them.

I sincerely hope that any wise consumer will be more concerned with what our repeat clients have said in their emails to us about our actual service, website & product. That is why I have posted some of those lovely responses on our site for all potential clients to review prior to making a purchase. Click here to see "customer comments"

Darius Cordell Designs like this one can really be worn for whatever you want or like. There are no rules if you really like something. It is about you not anyone else. Evening gowns like this design would fair well in jewel tone or darker colors. Gunmetal on black would be exceptional. But in the same regard champagne on ivory for bridal would look just as nice. So really it is what you like or need. It is all about what the client wants.

Please allow no less than 12 weeks for all heavily beaded items, custom wedding dresses or designs made with changes.

Shopping for formal ball gowns is not the same as shopping for a blouse or jeans। Formal dresses need to be made for you and your body। And dresses off the rack were not made for you। Therefore sometimes they will look good on the hanger and not look good on you when you try it on।Understand with any design...instead of using fit or trying on as criteria for looking good on.... better criteria is to say does the formal dress in the picture cover what I want to cover, and does it show what I want to show। If it does (either with or without changes) then you simply need to have your designer dresses made according to you individual needs & preferences (again either with or without changes) in your own specific and personal measurements so that it will fit on you how you want, be made according to your specific body shape & hit on your body where you need it to - unlike any other plus size wedding dresses you may have tried on off the rack that did not look good on - which again is because it was not made to your specific body shape but instead in that designers stock sizes.

With our darius cordell couture evening gowns & bridal dresses, you can either.....choose a size from our size chart.....OR.....you can have us make your garment made in your specific personal measurements - which incurs a 15% surcharge.Also keep in mind that alterations, fittings, modifications, changes or adjustments (for your body), if ever necessary, can be easily done by any one of your local tailors, seamstresses, or alterationist.

Born and raised in Dallas Texas, Darius moved to Norman Oklahoma in 1987 after graduation from Lake Highlands High School to attend the University of Oklahoma. It was during this time in college that Darius confirmed it was the world of couture was one of his major passions and that he wanted to become a fashion designer specializing in unique evening gowns, special occasion dresses, and informal bridal gowns.

After some moderate local success in Oklahoma, Darius as a new designer decided that he was ready to take his evening wear designs to the national level. It was then, that the marriage of determination, compassion, design, & fashion sense were perfectly melded into Darius producing his own designer collection of high end formal evening wear gowns & designer dresses.

He introduced his first collection at the Atlanta Apparel Market in October of 1996. This was the beginning of the label "Darius Cordell Designs" taking its rightful place as a contender in the pageant gown arena. Just over a year later, Darius as a new designer introduced his first collection of custom wedding dresses that has since evolved into a successful line on its own.

The design firm that was soon incorporated as, Darius Cordell Inc, in the early days exhibited designs exclusively only to bridal salons and retail stores for years from a private showroom within the Dallas International Apparel Market. The company also attended other regional wholesale markets in Chicago, Las Vegas and New York.

In 1998 the company relocated back to Darius' native home of Dallas Texas where he has experimented with selling his evening gowns & special occasion dresses to select retail clients in the Dallas Metroplex area via his private studio. A year later in 1999 the company's website http://www.dariuscordell.com/ was born and open the doors to a plethora of new mail order retail clients looking for formal ball gowns and designer dresses world wide.

Darius Cordell Designs still offers the collection wholesale to retailers for resale via regional markets for even further exposure nationwide. However the direct consumer response locally via mail order through the internet, retail, has been great. Recently the company moved their offices to an upscale retail studio showcasing the entire collection. We are now open to the retail public (as well as the wholesale community) from a new location in Hackberry Crossing office park that is located just minutes from the Stonebriar mall in Frisco which is just 25 miles north of Dallas.
